The Quality Control System for Rubber is primarily intended for installation in 4 roll steel and textilecord calenders.
The basic system comprises the equipment for upper and lower single film measurement with fixed measuring heads (scanning measuring heads are also available).
By different extensions the basic system can be adapted to your requirements:
- Final product basis mass gauge (textilecord):Scanning gauge with Beta- or Gamma-source at the calender exit, utilising this gauge a cascaded autocontrol can be achieved.
- Final product thickness gauge (steelcord):Equipped with scanning laser triangulation measuring heads to measure the real thickness of the final product. The Lasers detect the lower and upper surface of the covered steelcord and calculate the thickness independent of all constituent components.
- Balance gauge (steelcord):Gives information about the position of the wire in the covered steelcord.
- Wire defect gauge (steelcord):Detects wire crossing and missing in the final product. The location of the detected wire failure will be reported.
- Width gauge:Detects the edges of the final sheet with non-contact optical sensors. Emitter and receiver can be adapted to onsite conditions.
- Autocontrol comprises several control loops:Nip control (LHS & RHS), roll bending and cross axis control, each for the upper film as well as for the lower film. In addition cascade and target adaptive control (TAC) for the upper and lower film are part of the autocontrol.

- Upper and lower film basis mass measurement.
- Cross profile measurement of final product basis mass (textilecord) or final product thickness (steelcord).
- Steelcord balance measurement (option).
- Steelcord wire crossing/missing measurement (option).
- Textilecord moisture (option).
- Width (option).
Features:
- Expandable, Ethernet-based system architecture, powerful electronics. System operation via touch control screen or keyboard. Data processing with gauge computers near to the gauges.
- EPOS operator interface, Windows NT based.
- Single film measurement with 4, 5 or 6 backscatter measuring heads (for upper and lower film), mounted in fixed positions on the calender. This results in a very fast autocontrol. Alternatively the single films can be measured by 2 scanning backscatter measuring heads.
- Final product O-frame scanner.
- Serial or Ethernet interface to host computer.
- Extensive reporting by error-, roll-, product-, alarm- and management-protocols.
